Dosage & Administration
Adult dose
: After Cleansing, 2-4 drops instilled thrice to four times a day and at night or as directed by the physician.
Paediatric use
: Safety and efficacy of Ciprocort otic suspension have been established in paediatric patients 2 years and older in adequate and well controlled clinical trials.
Contraindications
It should be discontinued at the first appearance of a skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity.
Side Effects & Adverse Reactions
Rare reports of headache, pruritis, migraine, hyperesthesia, paresthesia, fungal dermatitis, cough, rash, urticaria, and alopecia have been reported.
Warnings & Precautions
As with other antibiotic preparations, use of Bactin HC may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organism including fungi. If the infection is not improved after one week of therapy, culture should be obtained to guide future treatment.
Pharmacology & Mechanism of Action
Ciprofloxacin & Hydrocortisone is a quinolone antibiotic and corticosteroid combination. It works by killing bacteria by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive. It also reduces inflammation (redness, swelling, itching).
